Monday Link Love

by thepapergnome

Mondays suck, and my weekend wasn’t much better. I found out this weekend that I have Bells Palsy and the right side of my face is basically paralyzed for anywhere from a few days to (more than likely) a few months. I’m not the happiest of campers, and I sort of look like a pirate.  So in honor of my being a pirate for a while, today’s papercraft delights will all be nautical themed. First up is this paper scupture/shadowbox by Cameron of the blog Cameron + Whitney. For someone who has only been doing papercraft for a relatively short amount of time, it’s amazing how good he is at it. He does commissioned papercraft portraits that are just adorable.

Next up, Jayme McGowan is a Sacramento-based illustrator  at Roadside Projects who is known for her whimsical illustrations, which you will agree is quite apt if you look through her portfolio.  You will find papercrafted banjo playing foxes, and parachuting cat ladies, and a mustached man taking a bath with a whale, among other things.

Speaking of whales, here’s a pretty cool paper whale shadowbox by bird mafia. I wish there were more views/angles of this work, but even from this shot you can tell that it’s super intricate and detailed. I love the linework on the whale the most. and that’s about all I have for you today. Hope that your weekend was better than mine. I’m off to research eye patches and work on my snarling. See you tomorrow!
