Eye Candy

Feast your eyes on the new pages I’ve created for ThePaperGnome.  By clicking the links under the header you can find out more about me, find me on other sites, and see pieces from my graphic design portfolio including the picture you see above.  This font was created by folding party balloons into letters of the alphabet, which was no easy feat.  My studio smelled like balloons for weeks after finishing this project.

‘Tis The Season To Be Thrifty

Fa la la la la la la la la.  This Christmas is a special one for me. It’s my first in my very own place. My first time decorating my own tree. I’m very excited about this. As much as I would love to cover my Christmas tree with sparkling lights and delicate glass ornaments, I can barely afford the Christmas tree, let alone anything to go on it.  This is where being a crafty designer comes in handy. This year, I will not sacrifice aesthetics due to a small budget so I’m going to make all of my ornaments out of paper.  Some will be printed versions of my own design, which I’ll also be selling in my etsy shop, while others will be crafted out of paper like those seen above. Pinterest is a goldmine for finding interesting paper ornament ideas.  Here are a couple more that I’m going to attempt to deck the halls with.

I think I’m going to limit my color scheme to red, white, gold, and butcher paper. We’ll see how it goes. What are your Christmas plans? Any DIY ornaments?

Hello world!

Pleasure to meet you.  My name is Darcy and I run ThePaperGnome shop at Etsy.  Here at ThePaperGnome blog, I will share sketches and process work for the items I have for sale. You can also expect weekly blogrolls and links to what’s inspiring me as well as DIY projects I undertake in my home.  Stay tuned for printable paper ornaments, just in time to deck the halls.
